Orientation Activities Held for Penal Execution and Security Services Program Students
General orientation events were held in two sessions for students of the Penal Execution and Security Services Program within the Law Department of Bandırma Vocational School, aiming to support their adaptation to the university and the program for the 2026-2027 academic year.
During the orientation events, students received comprehensive information regarding the university's academic and administrative operations. Topics covered included the use of the University Information Management System (ÜBYS) and mobile applications; course selection and add-drop procedures; academic advising services; the academic calendar; disciplinary rules; graduation criteria; and opportunities for double major and minor programs.
Additionally, the events introduced services and facilities available to students throughout their university life, such as the Career Development Application and Research Center, student clubs, sports facilities and activities, health and psychological counseling services, the cafeteria, the library, dormitory options, and the Erasmus Program.
In the program-specific segment of the orientation, students were informed about the objectives and professional orientation of the Penal Execution and Security Services Program, the course structure, the "3+1" Workplace-Based Vocational Training model, security protocols in penal institutions, policies regarding attendance and excuses, and post-graduation processes. The importance of staying updated on current requirements for public personnel recruitment and opportunities to continue undergraduate studies via the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) were also highlighted.
Following the events, a feedback survey was conducted to gather the students' views and evaluations regarding the orientation program. Survey results indicated that the program was viewed positively in terms of supporting students' adjustment to the university and their department, as well as informing them about academic processes. Based on the feedback received, areas for improvement regarding future orientation activities were also identified.
The presentation text used during the orientation activities, the Summary and Conclusion Report on the activities, and the Survey Results Report are available in the news attachment.
