Final Debate Session Held in the Financial Investment Instruments Course

Students of the Accounting and Taxation Program at Bandırma Vocational School evaluated different investment instruments comparatively during the final debate session held within the scope of the Financial Investment Instruments course, conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nevzat Çalış.

During the final class session, students carried out two separate debates under the topics of “Land and Real Estate versus Financial Investment Instruments” and “Crypto Assets versus Traditional Investment Instruments.” In the debates, the investment instruments were discussed from various perspectives, including return potential, risk level, liquidity structure, reliability, long-term value preservation and their effects on investor behavior.

In the debate comparing land and real estate with financial investment instruments, the long-term appreciation potential and safe-haven characteristics of real estate investments were emphasized, while the advantages of financial investment instruments in terms of liquidity, diversification and accessibility were discussed. In the debate between crypto assets and traditional investment instruments, the high return potential and innovative financial structure of crypto assets were compared with the regulated market structure, relatively lower risk perception and institutional trust associated with traditional investment instruments.

Through the activity, students had the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in an interactive discussion environment. They also improved their skills in conducting research, supporting their arguments with data and examples, critical thinking, public speaking and responding to opposing views within an academic framework.

The debate activities contributed to improving students’ financial literacy by encouraging them to evaluate investment instruments from multiple perspectives, better understand the risk-return relationship and develop awareness of financial decision-making processes. The event concluded with commemorative photographs taken at the end of the class.
